Religious Accommodation Policy (NC)
Allowing reasonable accommodations for employees due to sincerely held religious beliefs, practices, or observances is an important part of creating a fair and equitable workplace. In many cases, it's also required by law.
Title VII of the Civil Rights Act applies to employers with 15 or more employees, and states and local jurisdictions may have further requirements. Even if you aren't held to these federal standards, it's often legally prudent to strive to meet them to avoid problems.
This religious accommodation policy is appropriate for employers of all sizes and can be customized for applicable state/local laws. It lays out the procedure for requesting accommodations, responsibilities, enforcement, documentation, and confidentiality.
