Attendance and Punctuality Policy (RI)
An attendance and punctuality policy outlines the procedures for handling employee absences and tardiness, aiming to promote efficient operations and minimize unscheduled absences, including job abandonment. It lays out the expectations for regular attendance, the process for reporting absences or lateness, and the consequences of failing to meet these requirements.
This policy can be customized for applicable legal requirements or company policies. There is a place at the end for the employee to sign, confirming that they have read and understand the policy.
This policy should be reviewed with your employee handbook and other existing employee policies to ensure there are no inconsistencies. It is intended to be used in conjunction with the Progressive Discipline Policy, Written Warning, Final Disciplinary Notice, and Termination Notice. This policy is not intended for employees covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
You should consult a Human Resources expert if you're unsure of your specific state requirements.
