Rent
The amount of money a tenant pays on a regular schedule to his landlord is the rent. The rent is the tenant's cost of living in the leased premises. Typically, rent is paid every month for a specified number of months according to the lease agreement. Unless both the landlord and tenant agree to a different amount, the rent does not change during the term of the lease agreement. At the end of the lease, the rent is negotiable and the tenant can ask for a decrease. Of course, the landlord is under no obligation to decrease or change the rental amount; in fact, he has the right to increase the rent when the lease ends.
